Guardian Program

The WHY & WHAT?

As much as we would love to be able to own and care for all the dogs in our program, having guardian homes ensures that our dogs are cared for the best possible way. In order to give our breeding dogs the very best life, it is important to us that our furry parents get the individual attention, love, and families they deserve. Unlike breeding kennels, honey B puppy offers a guardian program to dedicated owners. Breeding healthy gentle puppies is our main goal. Adding high quality dogs to our program will ensure the health of our future puppies.

What to EXPECT

A “pick of the litter” puppy/dog is personally chosen for you by us. The puppy is placed at no cost to the Guardian family. The Guardian family agrees to raise, train, and care for a honey B puppy dog throughout the dog’s breeding career. The Guardian assumes the role of “parent” while we retain ownership and breeding rights to the dog. In exchange for providing a loving home, ownership will be transferred to the Guardian family at the time the dog is retired from his/her breeding career. The dog will be spayed/neutered at our expense. This provides the dog with the stability of the same family and its forever home throughout its entire life.

Qualifying to be a Guardian Home:

honey B puppy RESPONSIBILITY

Honey B puppy will pay all veterinary costs related to breeding for both male and female Guardian dogs.

Male Guardian dogs leave their Guardian homes for very short periods of time to sire (3-7 days).

Female breeding dogs come to us to be bred (3-7 days), and will return to us just before the birth to reside at honey B puppy to deliver, nurse, and wean her puppies. Females will reside with us for 7-8 weeks after the puppies are born. We understand that it can be difficult for families to have their girls gone for an extended period of time; we encourage and welcome families to visit with scheduled appointments while your dog is at honey B puppy. Typically our girls will have 1-4 litters depending on how the dog responds to being a mother.

Guardian RESPONSIBILITY

Our guardians are responsible for the dog’s regular health maintenance: annual exams, vaccines, food, treats, grooming, etc. Guardians of females are responsible for handling several heat cycles and must keep their girl protected from unplanned pregnancies.
